Meet Fauja Singh, at 104 years old he is a record breaker and the world’s oldest runner. He began running at 89 stating, “Running was Gods way of distracting me from suffering from my loss of my wife and child”. Such an inspiration to all of us and a wonderful reminder that we can do anything we put our minds too.. at any age and any time in our life. Sometimes tragedy is what encourages us to make the change, but to find the courage to do so is life altering and it makes Fauja a personal hero to me, so thanks for that reminder and piece of encouragement!
Fauja Singh is the oldest marathon runner and currently a world record holder in his age bracket. His current personal best time for the London Marathon in 2003 is 6 hours 2 minutes. Yes, a Marathon people!! What are you waiting for… go for a 10 minute jog at least.
In 2004, Singh was featured in an advertising campaign for sportswear manufacturer Adidas alongside David Beckham and Muhammad Ali. What an amazing man and gives us no reason to begin an exercise routine. What an amazing way to shame us all for feeling too old or out of shape to try something new when it comes to exercise. Its never too late. Life is beautiful… lets go make the most of it.
